Gwen Williams

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

Gwen is a UKCP accredited psychoanalytic psychotherapist and a qualified mindfulness practitioner, with over twenty years’ experience working with individuals and couples with a range of perinatal mental health issues.

Aside from her wide-ranging experience with depression and anxiety in pregnancy and post-partum, she also supports those affected by recurrent miscarriage, termination for medical reasons and other pregnancy loss, trauma, fertility issues and relationship issues within the parent’s relationship with the child and partner. She is particularly skilled at helping clients think about how their own experiences of being parented may impact them as they become parents. She has considerable expertise also in working with issues such as adoption, separation or divorce, child sexual abuse or other traumatic childhood events as they re-emerge in the perinatal period.

Aside from working as a psychotherapist in the renowned Women’s Therapy Centre for many years, she has also worked in MIND Camden as a Lead Clinician, and currently divides her time between private practice and her role as an individual and group psychotherapist in the Nightingale Hospital, a specialist inpatient hospital.

Her approach is collaborative and client-centered and whilst primarily located within a psychoanalytical framework, she also draws on mindfulness and self-compassionate therapies too. Her therapeutic approach is warm and respectful and aims to help you find your way in your life at this current moment. She can offer short-term focussed or longer term, open ended therapy as required.
