Referrals

If you are a healthcare professional and would like to refer a client, please note that we require either a referral letter on your headed paper or the Parenthood in Mind referral form.

We are happy to discuss any potential referral with you beforehand to ensure we are the most appropriate source of support for your client.

We do not accept referrals where:

  • The client is currently engaged with Social Services or has children on the Child Protection Register
  • The client is currently or has been recently (< 6 months) an inpatient in a Mother & Baby Unit
  • Legal proceedings are ongoing eg Family Court, ongoing parental custody issues, CAFCASS involved
  • There is suspected or confirmed domestic violence or abuse
  • Where there are serious concerns around client’s use of drugs, alcohol or self harm

Collaborative Working

Where the client is currently being seen by an NHS based team eg Perinatal Mental Health Team, Neonatal Unit, we can offer therapeutic input provided that:

  • The referrer agrees and regularly updates the PIM psychologist/psychotherapist seeing the client of any changes to client’s core status
  • No other treatment is ongoing at the same time unless complimentary eg Client can engage with Parent-Infant psychotherapy and/ or Couples Therapy if seeing a PIM practitioner for individual therapy
