Dr Fiona Seth-Smith
Clinical Psychologist
Dr Fiona Seth-Smith is a senior member of the Parenthood in Mind team, and has been a Lead Clinical Psychologist in an NHS inpatient Mother and Baby Unit since 2008. She has over 20 years of experience with a range of adult mental health problems including trauma, psychosis, depression and OCD, and is expert in working with these issues as they present in the perinatal period. Fiona is trained in family and couple therapy, and in addition is highly experienced in supporting the parent-infant relationship in therapy.
She has long term interests in infant mental health, developmental psychology and research, and is trained in a number of specialist interventions for this client group including Video Interactive Guidance. In addition, Fiona is the lead trainer and supervisor for clinical psychologists and perinatal psychotherapists in several NHS community perinatal teams.
Fiona is a warm and compassionate therapist and can draw on a range of therapeutic modalities when working with individuals, couples and families. Prior to her psychology training, Fiona was an art psychotherapist and has since become an accredited CBT therapist (BABCP). She is also trained in EMDR, which is a highly effective approach to address, amongst many issues, birth trauma. Fiona enjoys providing high quality, evidence based therapies to women and men and their partners who face challenges in conception or in the complex process of transition to parenthood, including bonding difficulties.
Fiona can offer sessions in Central London (Marylebone), and also over phone and Skype. She is a registered provider with all the main insurance companies, and is BPS and HCPC accredited.
